Types of Clay we will use in class
Low Fire-EarthenwareLowfire clay is what we mainly use in class. It is either mixed in the "Mud Pit" or is "Long Horn White" purchased with fees.
Longhorn White: Cone 04 Bisque- 05/06 glazes LOWFIRE CLAY: Examples: Longhorn White/Longhorn Red BISQUE: Fire to CONE 04- Slow or Medium Cone 04:1940°F LOW FIRE GLAZE: Fire To Cone 05 or 06 glazes-Fast Cone 05-1914°F Cone 06-1830°F |
MidFire-StonewareStoneware Clay is purchased and comes in bag. In an effort to keep low and Midrange separate we will only be purchasing Buffalo Wallow and Rojo clays this year.

Mid Fire PorcelainMid Range Porcelain: Kaolin clay that is highly plastic. It can be fussy to work with however it can have beautiful results. Fired it is pure white.
