Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show
Any Student at any Level course may participate in the HLSR Art Competition. There are 4 categories. Students may enter 1 2d work, One 3D work, and Quick Draw. Students may not enter both Figurative and Functional Ceramics .
2d: Monochromatic Drawing(Charcoal or Graphite), Colored Drawing(Prismacolor), Painting(watercolor,Oil,Acrylic), and Mixed Media. 3D: Figurative Sculpture- Oil based clay Functional Ceramics- Fired Vessels Quick Draw: Sketching for 50 minutes with a specific subject. Students submit application to HLSR students selected compete at a later date. To do well in any category it takes hard work, discipline, and time. If you choose to participate in any of the above category you are expected to put in time outside of your regular art course. 3D work must be started far enough in advance to be fired and finished. It is your responsibility to complete the work on time for the kilns. 2D work will go through the campus selection committee consisting of all of our art teachers. Our School has a quota and we are to send the most exceptional and well crafted work to participate. This contest rewards photo realist work. Seniors! Want a HLSR Scholarship?
